Powered using a hand-held bug zapper's power supply circuit and connected to a homemade high voltage transformer through a spark gap as to give time for the capacitor to charge and simulates a half wave of AC current (the bug zapper circuit is rectified to DC). Overall I estimate 15-20kV but the voltage is reduced slightly due to the spacing of the electrodes as not to stress the home-made transformer to much. My camera does not pick up all of the arcs visually but you can clearly hear the loud "snaps" it emits showing that It does arc at a reasonable pulse rate. The only real draw back is that it is powered by 2 AA battery's and they tend to run down after 10 minutes of play. I have yet to gather the courage to be shocked by the high voltage end but I did get shocked by the bug zappers circuit and that hurt quite a bit!
